Sri Rama, the ocean of mercy, stroked Jatayu's head with his hand,

As Jatayu gazed on sri Rama's countenance, all his pain disappeared,

Sri Jatayu now recovered himself and spoke

Listen Rama-Ravana has reduced me to this plight and has carried off Janaka's Daughter, he took her away- holy sir, to the south while she kept screaming loudly as an osprey,

In this way lord searched and lamented like an uxorious husband sore smitten with pangs of separation,

Sri Rama-who is bliss personified and has all his wishes accomplished

And who is both unborn and immortal, behaved like a mortal,

Further on they saw the king of vultures laying, with his thoughts fixed on Sri Rama's feet which bear characteristic marks on their soles,

The Bilva fruit, and the gold banana rejoice, and do not feel the least misgiving,

Listen Sita-in your absence today they are all glad as if they have got kingdom,

How can you bear such rivalry-why do not reveal yourself quickly-my Sita

Of Such flawless beauty, character, austerity and devotion,

Laxmana consoled him in many ways,

He questioned all the creepers and tree that stood on the way as he went along in search of Sita, O birds and deer, O string of bees, have you seen the fawn eyed Sita,

hermitage bereft of Sita

When Lord saw his younger brother coming,

He outwardly expressed much concern-you have left Sita alone and come here against my instructions, i suspect Sita is not at the hermitage,

Laxmana clasped Sri Rama's feet and replied with joined Palm,

Lord-it is not my fault-accompanying Laxmana Rama went to hermitage bereft of Sita, felt perturbed and afflicted as any common man,

In this manner Ravana took sita away and kept Her in Ashok Garden,

The wretch tried every kind of threat and endearment but failed miserable,

At Last he kept Her under an ashok tree strongly guarded,

Having impressed on heart the beautiful image of Sri Rama as appeared while running in pursuit of the false deer, sita increasingly repeated Sri Hari Name,
