i have staked my life

Jai Sri Ram,
Devi Parvati Said to sages that had you met me earlier, O great sages,

I would have listened to your advice with reverence,

But now i have staked my life for Lord Shiva, who will weigh his merits and demerits,

If you are specially bent upon uniting a pair and cannot help negotiating a match, there is no dearth of suitors and maidens; and those who take delight in such games no weariness,

Devi Parvati laughed and said that you have rightly observed that the body of mine is begotten of a rock which does not abandon its character even on being consigned to fire,

I may not ignore advice of Narada; whether my house is full or desolate, i fear not,

He who has no faith in the words of his preceptor cannot attain either happiness or success even in dream,

The great God Shiva may be full of faults and Vishnu may be a repository of all virtues, one is, however, concerned with him alone who gladdens one's heart,

Sages said to Devi Parvati that even now accept our advice and left apart the thought of Shiva,

We have thought of an excellent match for you, exceptionally good looking, pious, agreeable and amiable,

The one whose glory and exploits are sung by the Vedas again and again,

 He is free from blemishes and mine of virtues and the Lord of Laxmi, and his abode is in Baikuntha, such a suitor we shall unite with you

Habitual Recluses

Jai Sri Ram,
Sages asked to Devi Parvati tell us what happiness do you expect by obtaining such a husband,

You have fallen to the easy pray of the machinations of that imposer,

Listen, Shiva married Sati at the intercession of some friends but what later on he abandoned her and left her to die,

Shiva is a care-free now, he lives on alms and enjoys a sound sleep, can women ever stay in the house of habitual recluses,

Sages Saod to Devi Parvati that Narada called on and admonished the sons of Daksha and they never turned to home again,

It was Narada that ruin the home of Citraketu and the Father of Prahlaad-Hiranyakasipu,

Men and women who listen to the advice of Narada sure to leave their home and become mendicants,

Guileful at heart, he bears on his person the marks of a pious man; he make everyone like himself, relying on his words you crave for a husband who is apathetic by nature, devoid of attributes wear skulls around his neck, is without a family and has serpents as his ornaments,

Devi Gauri Said to sages that i feel shy in making submission, you will be amused to hear of my folly,

Yet my mind has taken a rigid attitude and heeds no advice; it would raise a wall on water

Relying on the truth of sage Narada prophecy, i long to fly even without wings,

Look at my madness: i always covet Shiva as My Husband, Hearing so-sages laughed and said, after all your body owes its existence to a mountain, tell us who has ever listen to Narada's Advice and lived in his home,

Saying so Lord Rama went out of sight, Lord Shiva cherished the impression of the vision in his heart,

That very moment the seven sages called on Shiva, the Lord spoke to them in most charming accents,

Go to Parvati and put her love to test and then directing her father to her send her back to home and dispel her doubts,

There the seer saw Gauri as if she were penance itself personified, Sages asked why are you practicing rigorous penance, who do you worship and what you seek, what is real secret behind it,

Lord Said you are supreme benefactor of everyone and your words must be a paramount duty , i bow to your command,
