refuge of the helpless and befriender of the afflicted

Jai sri Ram,
Sage Narada Said, O Lord Rama, you are refuge of the helpless and befriender of the afflicted,

By the might of your arm you have crushed Earth's enormous burden and ingeniously killed the demon khara, Dushana and Viradha,

 Hail all blissful slayer of Ravana, noblest of kings, a moon to the lily like line of king dasaratha,

Your fair renown is familiar to the puranas, Vedas, and tantras and is sung in the congregations of god, sages and saints,

Thirsty crop

Jai Sri Ram
Sage Narad said, Regard me, O lotus eyed Lord, O reliever of anxiety, with a benignant look,

Dark of hue as Blue Lotus, O Hari, You are as it were a bee enjoying the honey of the lotus heart of lord Shiva,,

Shattering the might of the demon hosts, you bring delight to saints and sages and wipe out sins,

Beneficent to the brahmans as a mass of fresh clouds to a thirsty crop,

Came sage Narada

Jai Sri Ram,
Lord Shiva narrating the pastimes of Sri Rama to his consort Sri Gauri and on this particular scenario when Sri Hanuman is serving Sri Rama, Lord Shiva said_

There is no one so blessed nor anyone so devoted to Sri Rama's lotus feet as Sri Hanuman,

Whose love and service, O daughter of mountain King Himalaya, have repeatedly extolled by Lord with his own mouth,

At that time came Sage Narada, lute in hand and began to sing the praise of Sri Rama, sweet renown which always has a fresh charm about it,

Felt a thrill of joy

Jai sri Ram,
The delight of his servants, Lord Rama, took with him Sri Hanuman as well as Bharat, Laxman and shatrughan and went outside the city and Ordered elephants,chariot and horses to be immediately brought before him,

Regarding them with kindness, he praised them all and distributed them among people giving each what one deserved and what one wishes to have,

The Lord who is reliever of all fatigue, himself feel tired and retired to a cool mango grove, where Bharat spread his own scarf and lord took his seat thereon with all his brothers in attendance,

Sri Hanuman now began to fan him, he felt a thrill of joy all over his body and eyes filled with tears,

returned Home

Jai sri Ram,
Sage vashist requested Lord Rama, My Lord, I would ask one boon; grant it in your mercy,

May my love for your feet, never cease in the course of my future births,

So saying, the sage of that era, sage of that time, Preceptor of Lord Rama,

That seer one among the great seven seers returned Home, the all merciful was highly pleased with him in his heart,

Sage Vashist said to Sri Rama, O Lord, he alone is wise, he alone is knower of truth,

He alone is abode of virtues, he alone is storehouse of goodness,

He alone possessed of uninterrupted and immediate perception, he alone is clever and endowed with all auspicious attributes,

Who is devoted to your Lotus feet, who is in love with your lotus feet that in true spirit,

The cultivation of spiritual enlightenment

Sage Vashista said that Muttering of prayers, austerity, penance, religious observances, yogic practices, performance of one's allotted duties, the various pious acts recommended by Vedas,

The cultivation of spiritual enlightenment, compassion, self-control, bathing in sacred waters and whatever other scared practices have been advocated by the Vedas and holy men,

The recitation of various Tantra texts, Vedas and Puranas have only one reward, My Lord; Nay all spiritual endeavor leads to the same glorious end, Unceasing devotion to your lotus feet,

Can dirt be removed by cleansing dirt, can anyone obtain butter by churning water, even so, except by cleansing with water of loving devotion, O Lord, the impurity accumulated within can never be washed away,

there can be no other vocation

Sage Vashista said to Sri Rama that O almighty Lord, the vocation of a family priest is very low and ancient texts have equally denounce it,

When i would not accept it, Brahma-my father said to me, it will redound to your benefit hereafter, my son,

Brahma, the supreme spirit, will appear in human semblance as a king, the ornament of Raghu's race,

Then i thought to myself, though this very office-i shall attain to him who is the object of yogic practices, performance of sacrifices, religious vows and charity, thus there can be no other vocation like this,

Jai Sri Ram,
One day the sage Vashista called at the palace where the charming and blissful Sri Rama was,

The Lord received him with great reverence, laved his feet and sipped the water into which they had washed,

Sage Said, listen O Rama,  i make humble submission O ocean of mercy, even as i watch your doings infinite bewilderment possesses my soul,

Your immeasurable greatness is beyond the knowledge of Vedas; how can i describe it-O almighty Lord,
