exploits of Sri Rama

 Jai Sri Ram,

I relate the exploits of Sri Rama with a heart full of ardor,

By Shiva's grace, my compassion will shed its own luster even as a night shines in conjunction with the moon and the stars,

Those who will fondly and intelligently recite or hear this story with attention will develop devotion to the feet of Sri Rama,

And purged of the impurities of Kali, will obtain choice blessings,

May Lord Bless all,

Thanks, please  

whose efficacy is patent

 Jai Sri Ram

But whose efficacy is patent, reveals Siva's glory.

That Lord of Uma, favorable as he is to me,

Shall make this story of mine a source of blessing and joy,

Thus invoking Lord Shiva and his consort and obtaining their favor,

Lord Shiva, the servants, masters, and friends of Sita's Lord,  

And true benefactors of Tulsidas in every way,

Seeing the prevalence of the Kali age Hara and Girija evolved a string of spells in the tongues of savages,

Incoherent syllables which yield no interpretation and require no repetition, 

May Lord bless all,

I adore the great Lord Shiva, 

And his consort Goddess Bhavani, 

My preceptor, parents, and friends of the forlorn 

And are ever given to charity,

 Jai Sri Ram,

Again I Bow to Goddess Saraswati, And the celestial River Ganga,

Both of whom are holy and perform agreeable roles,

The Ganga wipes away the sins through immersion and draught,

The other Saraswati dispels ignorance through the recital and hearing of her Glory,

dust of the feet of Brahma

 Jai Sri Ram,

I greet the dust of the feet of Brahma, who has evolved the ocean of worldly existence, the birthplace of nectar, the moon, and the cow of plenty in the form of saints, On the one hand 

and of poison and wine in the form of wicked, on the other hand,

Making obeisances to the feet of gods, the Brahmanas, the deities presiding over the nine planets,

I pray to them with joined palm, be pleased to accomplish all my fair desires,

Vedas

 Jai Sri Ram,

I Reverence to all the four Vedas, barks as it were on the ocean of mundane existence, 

Which never dream of weariness in singing the untarnished glory of Sri Rama, 

Rama, the chief of Raghus,

I greet the dust of the feet of Brahma, who has evolved the ocean of worldly existence, the birthplace of nectar, the moon, and the cow of plenty in the form of saints,
