Jai Sri Ram,
Lord Rama said unto the subject that wicked are devoted to sensuality, anger, arrogance and greed,

They are merciless by nature, deceitful, crooked and impure,

They bear enmity towards all without reason and behaves inimically even with those who are actively kind to them,

They are false in their dealings, falsehood is their lifestyle, they speak honey words just like peacock that has a stony heart and devours the most venomous snake,

Jai Sri Ram,
Lord said to Sri Bharata that now hear the characteristics of the impious, association with whom should be scrupulously avoided ,

For their company ever brings woe, even as a wicked cow ruins company of noble breed,

The heart of the wicked suffers terrible agony for they ever burn at the sight of others prosperity,

Wherever they hear others reviled, they feel delighted as though they had stumbled upon a treasure lying on road,

Embodiment of bliss

Jai Sri Ram,
Lord Said to sri Bharata that saints of true caliber are dear to me as my life,

Having no interested motive of their own they are devoted to my name and abodes of tranquility, dispassion, humanity and good humour,

Bharata again known of for all time that a genuine saint, whose heart is a home of all such noble qualities as placidity guilelessness, friendliness and devotion to the feet of the brahmanas, which is fountain of all virtues, they never swerve from the control of their mind and senses, religious observances and correct behaviours and never utter a harsh word,

They regards both oblique and praise alike and who claim my lotus feet as their only possession, such saintly souls are dear to me as life and are veritable abodes of noble qualities and embodiment of bliss,

Lord Sri Rama said to Bharata that saints as a rule have no hankering for pleasure of senses and are very mines of amiability,

They grieve to see sorrow of others and rejoice at the sight of other's joy,

They are even minded and look upon none as their enemy, ever free from vanity and passion,

They are conquered of greed, anger, joy and fear, indeed with tender heart and compassionate to the distressed and they cherish guileless devotion to me in thoughts words and deeds,

Sandalwood

Jai Sri Ram,
Lord Rama Said to sri Bharata, hear, dear brother-the characteristics of saints, which as told in the vedas and puranas are innumerable,

The conduct of the saint and the wicked is analogous to that of sandal-tree and the axe,

The axe cuts down the sandal tree while the latter in its turn perfumes the axe by imparting its virtues fragrance to it,

For this reason sandal wood in the form of a paste finds its way to the head of gods through their images and is loved by the world so much while axe has its steel edge heated in the fire and beaten with a hammer as punishment to make it sharp for reuse,

Good and the wicked

Jai Sri Ram,
Bharat Said to Lord Rama that i have no doubt, my lord, nor have i ever know any dejection or infatuation even in a dream,

And it is all due to your grace, O all-merciful Lord,

Yet, O storehouse of compassion, i make one submission that you are delight of your devotees and being a servant of your's wish to heard gracious words,

O ocean of compassion, conspicuous as you are by excellencies and wisdom, O protector of suppliant, please tell me clearly and severally the distinguishing traits of the good and the wicked,

Bharat wishes to ask

Jai sri Ram,
Lord Rama asked Sri Hanuman, tell me what is the matter,

Sri Hanuman replied with joined palms, Listen O Lord, compassionate as you are to the meek,

Bharat wishes to ask something but he is to diffident at heart to put question,

Lord Said, Hanuman, you know my deposition, has there ever been any secrecy between Bharat and myself, on hearing so Bharata clasped the lotus feet of Sri Rama and said Listen, my Lord, reliever of the suppliant's agony,
