By Shiva's grace

Jai Sri Ram,
By Shiva's grace my composition will shed its luster even  as a night shines in conjunction with the moon and the stars,

Those who will fondly and intelligently recite or hear this story with attention will develop devotion to the feet of sri Rama,

Purged of the impurities of Kali age, will obtain choice blessings,

If Hara and Gauri are really propitious to me, even in dream, let all that i have said in glorification of this poetry of mine, written in a popular dialect, come out true,

Jai Sri Ram,
Seen the prevalence of the kali age Hara and Girija that Shiva and Parvati evolved a spring of spells in the tongue of savages, incoherent syllables,

Which yield no interpretation and require no repetition but whose efficacy is patent, revealing Shiva's Glory,

That Lord of Uma that Parvati, favorable as he is to me, shall make tis story of mine a source of blessings and joy,

Thus invoking Lord Shiva and his consort, goddess Parvati and obtaining their favor, i relate the exploits of sri Rama with a heart full of ardor,

May Lord bless all,

Jai Sri Ram,
The one that sri Ganga ji wipes away sin through immersion and draught,

And the other dispels ignorance through the recital and hearing of her Glory,

I Adore Lord Shiva and his consort Goddess Bhavani,

That My preceptor, and parents, friends of the forlorn and ever given to Charity, servants, masters and friends of Sita's Lord and true Benefactor of Sri Tulsidas,

May Lord Bless all,

Making obeisance to the feet of gods, the Brahmans, wise men and the deities presiding over the nine planets,

I pray to them with joined palms,

Be pleased to accomplish all my fair desire,

Again i bow to goddess Saraswati and the Celestial river Ganga, both of them are holy and perform agreeable roles,

Bark as it were

Jai Sri Ganesha,
I revere all the four Vedas,

Bark as it were on the ocean of mundane existence,

Which never dream of weariness in singing the untarnished glory of Sri Rama,

I greet the dust on the feet of Brahma, the creator, who has evolved the ocean of worldly existence, the birth place of nectar, the Moon and the cow of plenty in the form of saints, on the one hand and poison and wine in the form of the wicked on the other hand,

Jai sri Ram,
It is very auspicious chapter today that transit of Sun to zodiac sign Capricorn,

It is an occasion for religious fervor, to perform sacred oblation, meaningful charity and disinterested service for the true cause,

Indeed it is an occasion of Yajna that offering to the sacred fire to purify self and a holy dip in the religious discourse to authenticate the truth of life as man,

 It is just a beginning of the month and truth of sacred Magh glorify this event to update self with knowledge unto self and the Brahma, to mark the life as man,

Poets and wise men, lovely swans sporting in the Mansarovara lake of Sri Rama's exploits,

Hearing my childlike prayer and recognizing my refined taste, be kindly disposed towards me,

I bow to the lotus feet of the sage who composed the Ramayana,

Which though containing an account of the demon Khara, is yet very soft and charming,
