Human profile is blessed with faculty to experience the feeling of self. Meditation is one of the ways to reach at but even without this mode one can experience by attaining higher state of conscious.
Two kind of life human subjected to, one is life of senses other is life of self-awareness that of higher intellect. There are regions in human plane one above the other but only truly awaken self can reach there not the sensual one.
Though life moves along the lines of fate but still blessed with free will to interface along the fate and one can utilize that for higher regions to realize the true self far from the normal modes of life.
