Jai sri Ram,
In one kalp-round of creation-it was for this reason that Lord Sri Hari assumed a human form,

It is his vow to gladden the gods to delight the virtuous and to ease the earth of its burden,

Thus sri Hari's births and exploits are many-they are all charming, delightful and marvellous,

In every cycle of creation the lord manifests himself and enacts lovely sports of various kinds and the great sages have each such occasion sung his story in most sacred strains, relating wonderful anecdotes of diverse kinds-hearing which the wise marvel not,

Sage Narada-who was full of compassion to the humble replied, both of you go and take the form of demons,

You shall possess an enormous fortune, grandeur and strength,

when you have subdued the universe by might of your arm, God Vishnu shall take a human form,

Dying at his hands in battle, you shall be liberated and shall never be reborn, bowing their head at the lotus feet of sage, both departed and were reborn as demons in due course,

Lord said-O sage, he who does not earn the goodwill of Shiva shall never attain true devotion to me,

Bearing this in mind-go and perambulate the globe-my Maya shall haunt you no more,

Having thus reassured the sage, the Lord then disappeared while Narada proceeded to Satyaloka chanting sri Rama's praises as he went,

When the attendants of Shiva saw the sage moving along the road free from delusion and greatly delighted at heart, they approached sage in great alarm and clasping the feet-spoke to him in great humility-we are servants of Lord Shiva and no Brahmanas-O great sage, we committed great sin and have reaped its fruit-now rid us of the curse, O benevolent sage,

Lord is ever extremely merciful to humble is truth all the way,

Sage replied, I poured many abuses at you-how shall my sins be expiared,

Gladly accepting the curse, the compassionate Lord made many entities to the sage and withdrew the irresistible charm of his Maya,

When Lord lifted the spell of his Maya, there was neither Rama nor the princess to be seen by his side,

In dire dismay the sage then clsped the feet of lord and said---O reliever of the distress of the suppliant save me-save me!

O gracious Lord-let my curse prove ineffectual---Lord replied-IT WAS MY WILL,

You are absolutely independent and subordinate to none-therefore you do whatever pleases your mind,

You debase a good soul and redeem a vile person and neither rejoice nor grieve over it, Deceiving everyone you have become habitual to such tricks,

You entertain no fear and are always zealous in pursuing your object, good and evil deeds do not come in your way-no one has so far been able to correct you,

You have this time played with fire and shall reap what you have sown, Take that very form in which you have imposed upon me-this is my curse, You made me like a monkey-therefore you shall have monkeys for your helpmates and you have grievously wronged me, so shall you suffer the pangs of separation from your wife

SELFISH AND PERVERSE AND TREACHEROUS

Jai sri Ram,
Seeing that sage has made me a butt of ridicule throughout the world, The terror of the Demons Sri Hari Vishnu met him right on the way, He was accomplished by Goddess Rama and the prices referred to above,

The Lord of Immortals spoke in gentle tones-to what destination, O Holy Sir, are you betaking your self like distracted, As soon as the sage heard these words, filled with rage-you bear to ttok upon the good fortune of others, YOU ARE RICHLY ENDOWED WITH JEALOUSY AND FRAUD<

While churning the ocean you drove Rudra mad and inciting him through the gods you made him quaff the poison-appropriating intoxicating liquor to the demons and poison to Shiva,

You appropriated Rama and the lovely Gem to your self-YOU EVER BEEN SELFISH AND PERVERSE AND TREACHEROUS in your dealings,

Jai sri Ram,
Hark-O-contemplative ascetic, if a patient disracted by his malady ask for something which is harmful to him,

The physician would not give it, In a like manner i have resolved on doing what is good to you, So saying lord disappears-under the spell of his Maya the sage was so mystified that he could not understand even such unambiguous words of Lord,  The sage reached at the venue of Swayamber with glad at heart for thoughts within himself, My beauty is so surpassing that the princess will Never commit the error of choosing for her husband anyone else than me,

Two attendants from from Shiva was too happened to be there and they knew about it all, but did not reveal-Princess with wrath of victory in her lotus hands she moved about surveying each of her royal suitors but did not turn towards Narada, again and again sage raised unspoken alarm but-the gracious lord too went there in the form of a king and the princess joyfully placed the wreath of victory round the neck of Lord,

The attendants of Shiva revealed the truth to Narada unto his beauty which made him furious beyond measure-curse them to be born as demon-and reap the rewards-to reach at the truth through glimpse of his image in water his heart found no solace take a vow that either i shall curse him or die at his door,

Seeing the mighty Power of his Maya, Lord-who compassionate to poor, smiled to himself and said, listen to me Narada-i shall do that alone which is good to you and nothing else----my words can never be untrue,

Sage Narada recollects unto self that what is needed on this occasion is great personal charm and surpassing beauty,

Whereby princess may be enamoured of me and place the wreath of victory around my neck,

Let me ask Sri Hari for a gift of beauty but-much time will be lost in going to him, yet i have no such friend as Hari-let him come to my rescue at this junction,

Narada prayed in many fold ways to recall his Master-the supportive and merciful Lord appeared before him,

Narada said to himself that he who wed this girl shall become immortal and so shall be able to conquer him in battle,

He whom she selects for her Lord shall be adorned by the entire creation, having read these lines Narada kept them to himself and mentioned few fabricated ones to king,

Narada left and thought within himself , let me divine and try some means whereby the princes may choose me for her husband,

He had no zeal to practice Japa or spirituality-he said again and again-Good God, how am i to get the girl,

She was no other than the Maya of Lord, the fountain head of all virtues, her charm was beyond perception, The princes was going to merry by self selection so called swayambar hence so many kings arrived there as suitors,

 The supportive sage entered the city, king welcome him and narrate the truth of event -sage meet the prices-seeing her beauty the sage forgot all about dispassion and remained gazing on her for a long

When he read the auspicious marks-he was lost in reverie-gladdened at heart but not openly mention the happy characteristics,

Maya created on the way a very beautiful city with an area of 800 square miles,

The manifold architectural beauty of the city exceeded of Vishnu's own capital Vaikuntha,

It was inhabited by graceful men and women, whom you would take to be so many incarnations of god of love and his wife Rati,

A king Silanidhi by name, ruled over that city, he owned grandeur and luxury of a hundred Indras and was a repository of grace, splendour, might and wisdom,

The compassionate Lord pondered and saw that a huge tree of Pride had spouted in the heart of Narada,

I shall soon tear it up by root; for it is my vow to serve the best interest of my servants,

Then, bowing his head at the feet of sri Hari, Narada Departed-Lord set his Maya into operation for the cause,

With impressive look, yet in coaxing accents, said the Lord, by tour very thought self-delusion, lust, arrogance and pride disappear,

You are steadfast in your vow of celibacy and resolute of mind, you can never be smitten with pangs of Love,

Narada replied with feeling of pride-lord it is due to your grace alone,

Most formidable is the Maya of Lord-no one was ever born in this world, who is beyond its charm,

Victory over Kama

Jai sri Ram,
In dire dismay Kama-Dev, the god of love with his accomplices acknowledge his defeat and clasped the sage's feet addressing him in accents of deep humility,

There was no anger in Narada's mind, he reassured the god of love by addressing him in friendly terms,

Then god of love, bowing his head at the sage's feet and obtaining leave left for the court of king indra and relates all,

Then Narada called on Shiva, he was proud of his victory over Kama, told him all love's doing,

When the god of love reached that hermitage, he created a semblance of the vernal season by his illusory power,

Many colors blossoms appeared on the trees of different kinds-cuckoos sang and bees hummed,

Delightful breeze, cool, soft and fragrant, blew, fanning the flame of passion, the god love was delighted to see his associate there and employed a variety of deceptive tricks but of no use on sage Narada,

Guilty cupid was now apprehensive of his own destruction-can anyone dare to trespass the bounds of him who has the Lord of Laxmi as his great protector,

Seeing the sage's condition, the chief of gods Indra became apprehensive, summoned god of love

He redirects Him to Narada to disturb the Samadhi sage indulge in,

The thought of his lord Vishnu broke the spell of the curse pronounced by Daksha-which did not allow him to stay at one place and his sinless mind fell into trance,

Armed by her strength of charecter the demon could not be conquered even by the vanquisher of Tripura,

By the stratagem the lord broke her vow of chastity and accomplished the purpose of gods,

The sportive and gracious Lord accepted her curse, it was Jalandhar who reborn as Ravana in this later Kalpa,

In that Birth Kasyap and Aditi were his parents-who were known by the name of Dashrath and Kaushalya,

This was how in one kalpa the lord descended from heaven and performed purified deeds on earth,

Seeing their distress Shiva waged war against him, which know no end but the demon-who possessed a great might could not be killed in spite of his best efforts-being wife of demon was a most virtuous lady,

It is these two brothers that born again as the powerful and most valiant Demon or Rakshasa,

Ravana and the Kumbhakarana, who were great warrior and, as all the world knows, conquered even gods,

Even though slain by the Lord, Hiranya and Hiranyakasipu did not attain liberation, for the Brahmans doom them for three Births,

It was on their account that the lover of devotees bodied himself forth on one occasion,

Due to the curse of Sanakadi sage both were born in an accused specie of demons,

One of them was Hiranyakasipu and other Haranyakshaand they were so mighty and known throughout universe as the tempers of the pride of Indra-the chief of gods,

Killing the demons he reinstates the gods, preserves the bounds of propriety fixed by Vedas, which represents his own breath and defuses his immaculate glory throughout the world,

It is for the sake of devotees that compassionate Lord bodied himself forth-the motives of sri Rama's birth are many each more wonderful than the other

Whenever virtues decline and vile and haughty demons multiply and works uniquity that cannot be told, whenever Brahmans, cow, gods and Earth itself are in trouble-the gracious Lord assumes various transcendent forms and relieves the distress of the virtues,

When Devi Parvati heard illuminating words of Lord Shiva, the whole structure of her sophistry collapsed,

Clasping to the lotus feet of her Lord again with joined palm she spoke words in the form of divine nectar that nectar of love

You have removed all my doubts, O gracious Lord the reality of Rama has been revealed to me, by your grace, my gloom has been lifted and i feel happy now, now regarding me as your slave, please answer my former question-if you pleased with me,why did he take the form of a human being,

Infatuation attributed to Rama is same as that darkness, smoke or dust appears in the sky,

Sri Rama, who is Truth-Conscious and Bliss combined, is like a Sun, the night of ignorance can not subsist in him even to the smallest degree,

The mirror of their heart is soiled and they have no eyes to see, can such souls behold the beauty of Sri Rama,

For those who are distant from the knowledge of unqualified Brahma and qualified divinity and indulge in various kinds and spin round the world under the sway of Sri Hari's Maya, no assertion is too absurd to Make, doubt the existence of Sri Rama,

Lord Shiva said to Uma Kalyani that your inquiries are naturally delightful and such as are approved of by saints,

As for myself i am particularly pleased to hear them but there was one thing which i did not like though you uttered it under a spell of delusion,

You suggested that the Rama whom the Vedas extol and on whom the sages contemplate is someone else,

Such words are spoken and heard by those men alone who are possessed by the devil of infatuation, are averse to the feet of Sri Hari Vishnu and know no difference between truth and falsehood,

The one who has not hear the pastimes of lord sri Vishnu, his birth is not that good-those who have not cherished in their heart the spirit of devotion to the lotus feet of lord Sri Hari Vishnu is not as good as one suppose to be,

You are indeed blessed and worthy of applause, o Daughter of mountain king, there is no such benefactor as you,

You have asked me to repeat the history of Sri Rama, which is potent enough to sanctify all the spheres even as the Ganga purifies the whole world,

Even so the moment one knows him the world of Matter cease, just as the delusion of a dream disappears as soon as one wakeup,

It is Sri Rama-him do i reverence in the form of a child, chanting the name of that Rama brings all kind of success within easy reach,

O Gracious Lord, relate the miracles wrought by Rama and how he proceeded to his divine abode along with his subjects,

Then expound the truth in the realization of which enlightened sages remain absorbed,

Knowledge of the formless absolute and the knowledge of the qualified divinity with or without form and dispassion,

O lord of purest understanding, reveal to me the many other mysteries connected with Rama and there by anything which i omitted to ask,

Devi Uma said to Lord Shiva that i ask you with heart sore distressed; be gracious enough to narrate the story of sri Rama,,

First tell me after a mature thought what makes the the unqualified Brahma assume a qualified form,

Then, my lord-relate the story of Sri Rama's descent and about his childhood,

How he wedded to Sita and the fault for which he had renounce his father's kingdom later on, describe numerable deeds performed by him in forest-relate all numerous sports that were enacted by him after his coronation,

O Lord-recount the scared virtues of Sri Rama, O lord of immortals, having the serpent king sesa for an ornament,

Placing my head on the ground, i adore your lotus feet and entreat you with joined palms to recount the unsullied glory of sri Rama.

,Though i am not qualified to hear it yet i am your servant in thought, word and deed,

Saints do not withhold even an esoteric truth wherever they find a man smitten with agony and therefore qualified to receive it,

Devi Uma said to Lord that in my previous birth, in the woods i witnessed Sri Rama's glory, i was too awe-sicken to tell you,

Yet my mind did not understand and i reap a good return for my folly,

Some doubts still lingers in my mind, please be gracious to me-i implore you with joined palms,

Lord, you instruct me then in many ways yet i did not understand-please do not allow this thought to anger you, i find developed in me a taste for hearing the story of Rama,

Devi Uma Kalyani said to Lord Shiva if a king's son, how could he be Brahma,

And if he were Brahma, how could his mind get unhinged by the lose of his wife,

When i see his acts on the one hand and hear of his glory on the other, my mind gets utterly confused,

If, my Lord, there is any other desire, all pervading and all powerful Brahma, instruct me about the same, but not angry at my folly but take steps to wipe out my ignorance,
