Sati proceeded the spot where the all blissful Rama was,

 Jai Sri Ram,

If you have grave doubt in your mind, why not go and verify the thing, I shall be waiting in the shade of Banyan tree till you come back, Using your critical judgement you should resort to some device whereby the stupendous error of your ignorance may be rectified, 

Thus attaining leave of Shiva, Sati, proceeded on her mission, She racked her brains to find out what step she should take in order to test the divinity of Rama, 

On this side Shiva came to the conclusion that mischief was in store for Sati, when her doubt did not yield even my assurances, he Said to himself, it seems the stars are unpropitious to her and no good will come out of it, 

After all, whatever Sri Rama has willed must come to pass, why should one add to the complication by indulging in further speculation, so saying Lord Shiva began to mutter the name of Sri Hari, while Sati proceeded the spot where the all blissful Rama was,

woman is foremost in you

 Jai Sri Ram,

Look here, Sati, the woman is foremost in you, you should never harbour such doubt in your mind, He is no other than Rama, the hero of Raghu Race, my beloved deity, whose story was sung bu jar born sage Agastya, 

Faith in whom was the subject of talk I gave to him and whom illumined sages ever wait upon, he who has embodied himself forth as the jewel of Raghu's Race for the sake of his devotees is no other than supreme eternal,

He is all pervading and ever free, who is ruler of the worlds and Lord of Maya whom illumined sages, Yogis and Siddhas constantly meditate upon with their sinless mind and whose glory is sung was the Vedas as well as the Purushas and other scriptures in negative terms as not that,

Although Shiva repeated this time after time, his exhortation made no impression on the heart of Sati, then Shiva smilingly said, realizing in his heart and potency of Sri Hari,

word of Shambhu cannot be false

  Jai Sri Ram,

Even Vishnu who takes a human form for the sake of gods, is omniscient like the slayer of Tripura, 

Can he wander in search of his consort like an ignorant, who is repository of knowledge, Lord of goddess Laxmi, and slayer of demons

The word of Shambhu cannot be false, everyone knows that he is all wise, thus her mind was filled with an interminable series of doubts, her heart could not pacify her by any mean, 

Although goddess Parvati did not open her lips, Shiva, who is inner controller of all, came to know everything,

supremely wise alone can comprehend

 Jai Sri Ram,

The lord was thus lost in reverie, meanwhile the vile Ravana took him the demon Marica, who forth assumed the illusory form of a deer,

The Ravana carried off Sita by fraud, the lord's real might wsa not known to him, having killed antelope Rama returned with his younger brother, 

 His eyes was filled with tears when saw the empty hermitage, Rama distressed at the loss like a mortal man, and two brother roamed about the woods in search of her, He who knows neither union nor separation showed unmistakable signs of grief born of separation, 

Exceedingly mysterious are the ways of the Lord, the supremely wise alone can comprehend them, the dull witted in their height of folly imagine something quite different,

Shiva kept pondering as he went,

 Jai Sri Ram,

During those days, with a view to relieving of the earth, Sri Hari had descended in the line of Raghus, renouncing his right to the throne at the word of father, immortal Rama was wondering in the dandaka forest in the garb of an ascetic, 

Shiva kept pondering as he went, How can I obtain a sight of him, the lord embodied himself forth secretly, and if I visit him, everyone will know who he is, 

In Sankara heart there was a great lumult, Sati, however, had no inking of this secret, His mind Says Tulsidas, apprehended lest the secret might disclosed while the temptation of obtaining a sight of lord made his eyes wistful,

Ravana had sought from Brahma the boon of death at the hand of a human, and the lord would have the words of Brahma come true, if I did not go to meet him, I shall ever regret it, Shiva pondering but found no solution to the puzzle,

Greetings of the day

 

Sage Yajnavalakya smilingly said

 Jai Sri Ram,

Sage Yajnavalakya smilingly said, the glory of Rama is already known to you, you are a devotee of Rama in thought, word and deed, I have come to know your ingenuity, you wish to hear an account of the hidden virtues of Rama, 

That is why you have questioned me as if you were quite ignorant, listen, then, with devout attention, my child, while I narrate the beautiful story of Rama, appalling ignorance is the gigantic demon Mahisasura, while the narratives of Rama is the dread Kalika, 

The story of rama is like the moonbeams that are drunk in by Cacora bird in the form of Saints, a similar doubt was expressed by no less a personage than Bhavani, and the great God Shiva then expounded the matter in details, I shall relate to you the best of my lights the dialogue between Uma and Shambhu, hear, O sage, the time occasion of this dialogue, your gloom will be lifted, 

Once upon a time, Shiva called on the Jar Born sage Agastya along with his consort, Sage worshipped him to be the universal lord, and narrated the story of Rama, Shiva listened to it with delight, the sage then enquired about devotion to Hari, Shiva discoursed on it finding in sage a fit recipient, thus narrated the tale of Rama's virtues, spent some time there, asking leave of the sage, Shiva proceeded to his Kailash with Devi Sati,

Is It This Very Rama

 Jai Sri Ram,

I ask you my lord, WHO THAT RAMA IS, pray explain to me, O store house of compassion,

One such Rama is the prince of Ayodhya whose exploits are known throughout the world, 

Infinite was his sorrow due to the lose of his wife, and flying into rage he slew Ravana in Battle, 

Is It This Very Rama,, my lord. or some one else whose name Shiva, ever repeats, you are embodiment of truth and omniscient, so ponder well and give me your considered reply, tell me in detail, my master, my overwhelming perplexity may be overcome,

A great doubt

  Jai Sri Ram,

A great doubt haunts my mind, Holy Sir, the whole mystery of the Vedas stands revealed to you,I am afraid and ashamed to utter the doubt and I lose a great opportunity if I keep it back,

The saint lay down the rule, and Vedas as well as the Puranas and sages too loudly proclaim, that pure wisdom cannot be dawn in the heart, would one keep anything concealed from one's spiritual preceptor,

Remembering this I disclose my folly, dispel it, taking pity on this servant, my Lord, Saints and all ancient scripture declared that potency of the name Rama is unlimited, the immortal lord Shiva, who is the fountain of joy and a storehouse of wisdom and goodness, incessantly repeat it, 

There are four broad divisions of living beings in the world, such of them as die in the city of Kashi attain to highest State, for it is this very name That Shiva mercifully impart to the dying soul in Kashi,

Hare Rama

 

Once Sage Bhardwaj clasped the feet of supremely wise sage Yajnavalkya

 Jai Sri Ram,

At daybreak they all perform their ablutions fervour and then converse together on the virtues of Sri Hari, 

They discuss the nature of Brahma that the supreme eternal, the precepts of religion and the classification of fundamental entities on devotion to the Lord coupled with spiritual enlightenment and dispassion, 

In this way they bathe for the whole month of Magha and then return each to his hermitage, great rejoice every year and having performed their ablutions while sun stays in capricorn the host of sages disperse,

Once Sage Bhardwaj clasped the feet of supremely wise sage Yajnavalkya, reverently washed his lotus feet and installed him on a most sacred seat, extolling his fair renown with religious ceremony, Bhardwaj Spoke in mild and reverential tones,

Visit the ancient temple of Vindumadhava,

Having enumerated the virtues of this excellent water to the best of his intellectual capacity and bathed his mind in it, and remembering goddess Bhavani and Lord Shiva,, poet narrates beautiful story, 

Installing in my heart lotus feet of Rama thus securing his grace, I now proceed to relate the charming story of meeting of the two great sages that Yajnavalkya and Bhardwaja,

Sage Bharadwaj lives in Prayaga, devoted to Rama, ascetic and embodiment of self restraint, composure of mind and compassion, advanced on the path of Spirituality, In the Month Magha when all gods sages, pious souls, aspirants and other celestial Visit the Triveni as the sun enters in Zodiac sign capricorn to pay oblations in truth with self, they all bathe and experienced their inherent reality in context with that truth, 

Visit the ancient temple of Vindumadhava, to feel obliged of the occasion and tough the immortal Banyan tree which thrills the soul, nearby had the hermitage of Sage Bhardwaja, the most sacred from the true of austere penance of the sage, a holiest reality among the holy truth of Triveni,

thirsty deer runs after a mirage mistaken it for water

The way the four brothers look at one another meet and love one another, their mirth and their ideal brotherliness, my intense longing, supplication and humility represent the not inconsiderable lightness of this pure and holy water,

The marvelous water heals by the mere hearing, quenches the thirst of desire and washes the dirt of the mind, the water nourishes true love for Rama, and drives away the sins of Kali age, relieves the fatigue of transmigration, gratifies gratification itself,

It wipes out lust anger and pride and infatuation, and enhances pure wisdom, and dispassion, by reverently bathing in it, and drinking it sanctify the heart, 

Creature wanderings in pursuits of sensuous pleasures, will come to grief even as a thirsty deer runs after a mirage mistaken it for water, and returned disappointed,

Wedding of Goddess Parvati and Shiva represent the Hemanta that cold season, while festival connected with represent the chilly season, which abounds the joy and felicity,

Rama's departure to forest constitute hot weather that blazing sun with hot wind, terrible conflict with demons represents the rainy season, which constitute blessings for peddy crops, 

His polite truth represents the cloudless charming autumn, Bharata amiability represents coolness, which is uniform at all times, and beyond description,

The bridegroom party in the wedding of goddess Uma and Shiva are numberless aquatic creatures, the rejoicing and felicitations that attended the advent of Rama, represent the charm of the eddies and waves,

The childlike sports of the four divine brothers are the, numerous lotus flowers, while the stock of merits of Dasaratha and his consort represents the bees and water birds,

The fascinating story of Sita's choice, marriage is the delightful charm surrounding the river, pertinent questions are the boats, judicious replies are boatmen, 

The story of the crowd of travellers moving along the banks of river, Rama's soft ascent is unique to relate, auspicious preparation for coronation of Rama as prince in shadow of Kaikeyi' evil, a serious calamity in the wake,

One year

 Jai sri Ram,

One year since Pran Pratishtha of Sri Ram Mandir at the birth place of Lord Rama is being celebrated in all the fourteen regions and four quarters of this universe,

It was pure blessings of Lord Rama, who facilitate the celestials and pious souls to activate this reality for the cause of mankind in the planet, and bridge the gap between individuality and the supreme personality,

Lord Rama through his gracious sight reconnect the temple with his abode in that region to update the spirit in planet for a mystic reason,

Obeisance to Lord Ram, bow my head again and again in his divine grace to reach the pollen like dust from his lotus feet,

three kind of audience

 Jai Sri Ram,

The three kind of audience are the towns, villages and cities on both the banks, and the congregation of saints is the incomparable Ayodhya, which is the fountain of all auspicious blessings,

The beautiful Sayaru in the form of Sri Rama's fair renown joined the heavenly stream Ganga of devotion to Rama, the latter was joined again by the charming stream of the mighty Sona in the form of the mortal glory of Rama with his younger brother Lakshmana,

Intervening the two streams of Sarayu and Sona shines the celestial stream of devotion blended with noble dispassion and session, this triple stream, which scares away the threefold agony referred to above, headed towards the ocean of Rama's divine personality,

With its source in the Manasa Lake and united with celestial river Ganga, the Sarayu of Rama's fame will purify the mind of the pious souls who listen to it, while the strange episodes interspersed here and there are the groves and gardens as it were adjoining the river Bank

This holy stream

  Jai Sri Ram,

Those men who cherish ideal devotion to the feet of Rama never quite this lake, let him who would bathe in this lake, brother, diligently practise Satsanga,

Having seen this Manasa lake with the mind's eye and taken a dip into it, the poet's intellect got purged of all its dross, The heart was flooded a stream of beautiful poetry, carrying the water if Rama's fair renown, 

Sarayu is the name of this river, which is the very fountain of pure bliss, The secular view point and the viewpoint of the Vedas, there represents the two charming banks, 

This holy stream, issuing as it does from the beautiful Manasa lake, uproots in its course all the impurities of the Kali age, whether in the form of tiny blades of grass or of the mighty trees,

Jai Siya Ram, 

reverently bathes in the lake and thus escapes the threefold agony

  Jai Sri Ram,

The Manasa is most inaccessible to those who lack provisions for the journey in the shape of piety, who do not enjoy the company of saints and who have no love for Rama, even if anyone makes his way to it undergoing so much hardship, is forthwith attacked by ague in the shape of drowsiness,

Benumbing cold in the shape of stupor overtakes his heart, so that the unhappy soul is deprived of a dip even after reaching there,

Finding himself unable to take a plunge into the lake or to drink from it, he returns with a feeling of pride, and if anyone comes to inquire about the lake, he tries to satisfy him by verifying him, 

All these obstacle do not, however, deter him whom Sri Rama regards with overwhelming kindness, he alone reverently bathes in the lake and thus escapes the threefold agony of the fiercest kind,

Bad company is so obdurate

 Jai Sri Ram,

Those who carefully recite it, they alone are vigilant guardian of this lake, and those men and women who reverently hear it everyday are great gods exercising jurisdiction over this mansarovar Lake,

Sensual wretches are the accused herons and crows who never approach the lake, for hare there are no varied talks of the pleasure of senses, corresponding to snails, frogs and moss,

That is why poor crows and herons in the form of lustful men lack heart to visit this place, for there is much difficulty in getting to this place and it is not possible to reach it without the grace of Sri Rama,

Bad company is so obdurate, contributes a terribly rough road, and the words of such companion are so many tigers, lions and serpents, the various occupations and entanglements of domestic life are huge mountain which are so difficult to approach, infatuation and pride are so many inaccessible woods, and sophisms of various kinds are frightful streams,

Yamas and Niyamas

 Jai Sri Ram,

Even so the mind control, the five , or the form of self restraint, viz,. non violence, truthfulness, non thieving, continence and non acquisition of property, 

The five Niyamas or religious vows, viz,. those external and internal purity, contentment, austerity, study of sacred books or repetition of the divine name and self surrender to God, are blossoms of these creepers, spiritual enlightenment is their fruit and loving devotion to the feet of Sri Hari constitutes the sap of this fruit of spiritual enlightenment, so declare the Vedas, 

The various other episodes forming part of this narrative are the birds of different colors such as the parrot and the cuckoo, 

The thrill of joy that one experience while to this narrative represents the flower gardens, orchards and groves, and the delight one feels is the sporting of birds, while a noble mind is gardner, who waters the garden, with moisture of love through the charming jars of eyes,

The Seven books are the seven beautiful lights of steps, which the soul delights to look upon with the eyes of wisdom, the unqualified and unbounded greatness of Rama, which will be presently discussed, represents the unfathomable, depth of this holy water,

The glory of Rama and Sita constitute the nectorian water, the similes represents the soul ravishing sport of its wavelets, the beautiful caupais represents the thick growth of lotus plants, the various poetic devices constitute the lovely shells that yield beautiful pearls, other alike are cluster of charming lotuses,

The incomparable senses, the beautiful ideas and the elegant expression represents the pollen, honey and fragrance of those flowers respectively, the virtuous acts mentioned therein are the charming swarms of bees, the references to spiritual enlightenments, dispassion and reason represents the swan, 

The implications and involutions and the various excellences and styles of poetry are the lovely fishes of various kinds, the four ends of human existence, viz, worldly riches, religious merits, enjoyment and liberation, the reckoning exhaustion of Jnana that knowledge of God in his absolute formless aspects, and Vijnana that knowledge of qualified divinity both with and without form, the nine sentiments of poetry, and reference to the Japa the muttering of mystic formulae, austerity, Yoga that contemplative unison with God, and detachment from the world and all these represents the charming aquatic creatures of this lake, Eulogies on various men, pious souls and the name of God, these correspond to water birds of various kinds, the assemblage of saints referred to herein are the mango grooves hemming the lake on all sides and piety has been likened to  the vernal season, the exposition of the various types of devotion and the references to forbearance, compassion, and sense control represents the canopies of creepers,

Invoking Goddess Parvati, and Lord Shiva, I proceed to give a full account as to what this Ramacaritamanasa is like, how it come to be and what lead to its popularity in the world,

Author has polished his composition to the best of his intellect, yet listen to it with sympathetic mind, a refined intellect is catchment area, heart is fathomless depression, Vedas and Puranas constitute the ocean, while holy men represents the clouds which rain down pure, sweet, agreeable and blessed water in the form of Rama's excellent glory, pastimes of a personal God that holy men narrate in extenso are the transparency of this water, which cleans the impurities, while loving devotion, which defies all description, represents its sweetness and coolness, 

The water is beneficial for the paddy crop in the form of virtuous deeds, it is life itself to the devotees of Rama,The same holy water, when it dropped on the soil of intellect, flowed through the beautiful channel of the ears and, collecting the lovely spot called heart, came to the stationary, having remained there for long time, it became clear, agreeable, cool and refreshing,

The four most beautiful excellent dialogue those in between, Bhusandi and Garuda, Shiva and Parvati, Yajnavalakya and Bhardwaj, between tulsidas and other saints, that have been cleverly woven into this narrative are the four lovely Ghatas of this holy and charming lake,

The holy and beautiful Ramacaritamanasa is the delight of sages, it was conceived by Shiva, it puts down the three kind of error, sorrow and indigence, 

It uproots all the evil practices and impurities of the kali age, heaving conceived it, Shiva treasured it in his mind till, when a favorable opportunity presented itself, 

He communicated it to his consort, therefore after due consideration Shiva joyously gave it the excellent title of Ramacaritamanasa, 

I repeat the same delightful and charming story, hear it reverently and attentively, O Noble Souls,

abode in sri Rama's heaven

 Jai Sri Ram,

The Very sight and touch of the Sarayu, a dip into its water or a draught from the cleanses one's sins, 

The beautiful town of Ayodhya grants an abode in sri Rama's heaven, it is celebrated through all the worlds belonging to the four species,

That Viviparous, oviparous, sweat born and those shooting from the earth, who so ever shed their mortal coil in Ayodhya are never born again, 

Knowing the town to be charming in everyway, a bestower of all forms of success and storehouse of blessings, I commenced writing this sacred story there, the impulses of lust, arrogance and hypocrisy positively disappears from the mind of those who hear it,

ninth of lunar month Chaitra,

  Jai Sri Ram,

Rama is infinite, infinite are his virtues,

The dimensions of his story are also immeasurable,

Those whose thoughts are pure will, thereupon, feel no surprise when they hear it, 

With humble supplication to all, proceed to recount the virtues of Rama, I commenced this story in the Samvat year 1631 that 1575 AD, on Tuesday, the ninth of lunar month Chaitra, story shed its luster in Ayodhya, on Rama's birth, infinite sagacious souls and gods come and pay their homage to Rama, and celebrate the Birthday festival, numerous pious men take dip in the holy water of Celestial Sarayu, muttering the name of Sri Rama,

A day that not only a tangible help to support self eternally but a truth to impart requisite know how to graduate self in pristine cult of spirit,

Indeed a favorable day which support for fair spiritual evolution of self, to meet the truth of cause eternal, a day beyond words and chapters of Philosophy and ideology,

weaving a strange narrative

The exploits of Rama are delightful to one and all even as the rays of the full moon, they are particularly agreeable and highly beneficial to the mind of the virtuous, who can be compared to the white lily and Cakora bird, 

I shall relate now at some length the seed of the story, how goddess Bhavani questioned lord Sankara and how Sankara answered her questions, weaving a strange narrative round this episode, let no one who should happen not to have heard this anecdote before be surprised to hear it, 

Wise men who hear this uncommon, legend marvel not, for they know there is no limit to the stories of Rama, they are convinced in their heart that Rama has embodied himself forth in diverse ways and that the Ramayana, though consisting of a thousand million verses, is yet infinite,

Great sages have diversely sung the charming stories of Sri Hari, relating as they do to different Kalpas or cycles, bearing this in mind the reader should not entertain any doubt and should hear this narrative reverently and with devotion,

Manasarovara lake

   Jai Sri Ram,

They are spells and valuable gems as it were for countering the venom of serpents in the form of sensuous enjoyments, the efface of deep marks of evil destiny contained on the forehead,

They are sunbeam, as it were, dispelling the darkness of ignorance, and clouds nourishing the paddy crop in the form of devotees, trees of paradise, as it were, yielding the object of one's desire, easily available for service and gratifying like Vishnu and Shiva, 

Stars as it were adoring the autumnal sky in the shape of the poets mind, and the very life's treasure for the devotees of Rama, a rich harvest of enjoyments as it were, yielding by the totality of one's meritorious deeds and sincerely devoted to the good of the world like holy men,

Sporting in the mind of the devotees as swans in the Manasarovara lake and purifying as the waves of the holy Ganga, the host of the virtues possessed by Sri Rama are like a blazing fire to consume the dry wood of evil ways, fallacious reasoning, mischievous practices, deceit, hypocrisy, and hereby prevailing in kali age,

 Jai Sri Ram,

The story of Sri Rama is the river Mandakini, which washes the foot of Chitrakoot, a guileless heart is mount Chitrakoot, one of the harpy resort of Sri Rama During his wandering in the forest, while pure pure love, says Tulsidasa in which Sita and Rama carry on their divine pastime,

The narratives of Rama is lovely wish yielding gem, and a graceful adornment for saintly wisdom, the host of virtues possessed by Rama are a blessing to the world and bestowers of liberation, riches, religious merit and the divine abode, and the divine abode,

They are true teachers of wisdom, dispassion and Yoga That Contemplative unison with God, and celestial physician that Ashwini kumars for the fell disease of metempsychosis, parents of devotion to Sita Rama and the seed of all holy vows, practices and observances, antidote for sins, agonies and grief and beloved guardian in this as well in that world,

Valliant ministers to king reason and a veritable Agustya drinking up the illimitable ocean of greed, young lions, residing in the forest of the devotee's mind to kill the herd of elephants in the shape of lust, anger, and impurities of the kali age, dear lord Shiva, the slayer of demon Tripura as a highly respectable and most beloved guest, and wish yielding clouds quenching the wild fire of indigence,

Laxmi sprang from the ocean,

 Jai Sri Ram,

It is beneficent to pious souls, even as goddess Parvati, is friendly to gods, again,it puts an end to hell even as Parvati exterminated the army of demons, 

It flows from the assemblage of saints, even as Laxmi sprang from the ocean, and like the immovable earth it bears the burden of the entire creation, like the sacred river Yamuna in this world it scared away the messengers of Yama, the death god,

It is Holy Kashi, as it were for the liberation of souls, it is dear to Rama as the sacred basil plant and is truly beneficent to Tulsidasa as his own mother, HULASI, it is beloved of Shiva as the river Narmada which has its source in mount Makala, a peak of the Amarakantaka hill,

It is mine of attainments as well as of happiness and prosperity, it is to noble qualities what mother Aditi is to gods, it is culmination as it were of devotion to and love for Sri Rama,

Said Tulsidas, I heard the same story in the holy Sukaraksetra that modern soron in the western UP, from my preceptor, but as I had no sense in those days of my childhood, I could not follow it full well, both the listener and the reciter of the mysterious story of Rama must be repositories of wisdom,

How, then could I, a dull witted and stupid creature steeped in the impurities of the kali age, expect to follow it, nevertheless, when the preceptor repeated the story time after time, I followed it to be a certain extent according to my poor lights, I shall versify the same in popular tongue, so that my mind derive satisfaction from it, 

Equipped with what little intellect and critical power I possess, I shall write with a heart inspired by Sri Hari, the story I am going to tell is such as will dispel my own doubts, errors and delusion, and will serve as a boat for crossing the stream of mundane existence,

The Story of Rama is a solace to the learned and a source of delight to all men and wipes out the impurities of Kali age, Sri Rama's story is a pea hen for the serpent in the form of kali age, again it is a wooden stick for kindling fire of wisdom, is a cow of plenty in this age of Kali, beautiful life giving herb for the virtuous, veritable river of nectar on the surface of this globe, which shatters the fear of birth and death, is a virtual snake for frog of delusion,

Shiva imparted it once more to Kakabhusandi

The Ravishing tale was conceived by Sambhu, who graciously communicated to his consort Uma that Goddess Parvati, 

Shiva imparted it once more to Kakabhusandi, a sagacious reality in the form of a crow, knowing to be a devotee of Sri Rama, and one qualified to hear it,

It was Yajnavalikya who received it from Sri Kakabhusandi, and narrated it to a pious sage Bhardwaja, 

Both these, the listener and the reciter are equally virtuous, they know all alike and are more acquainted with the pastimes of Sri Hari, like a emblic myrobalan fruit placed on one's palm, they hold the past, present and future within their knowledge, besides these, other enlightened devotees of Sri Hari too recite hear and understand this story if diverse ways,

While the Lord sat at the foot of trees, the monkeys perched themselves high on the boughs, Such insolent creatures He exalted to his own position, 

There is no lord so gracious as Rama, O Tulsidasa, your goodness, O Rama, is beneficent to all, if this is a fact, Tulsidas too will be blessed by the same,

Thus revealing my merits and demerits and bowing my head once more to all, I proceed to sing the immaculate glory of the chief of Raghus, by hearing which the impurities of the kali age are wiped away, 

The charming Story which Yajnavalkya related to the Good Sage Bhardwaj, I shall repeat the same dialogue at length, let all good souls hear with a feeling of delight,

 Jai Sri Ram,

The benevolent Rama will nonetheless respect the devotion and pleasure of this wicked servant, Rama, who made barks out and wise counsellors out of monkeys and bears, everybody calls me a servant of the lord and I my self claim to be one, and Sri Rama puts up with the scoffing remark that a master like Sita's Lord has a servant like Tulsidasa, 

My presumption and error are indeed very great, and, hearing the tale of my sins, even hell has turned up its nose at them, Lord applauded my devotion and spirit on hearing of perceiving and scanning them with the mind's eye,

Lord never cherishes at his mind the lapse, if any, on part of a devotee, while he remembers the latter's spirit a hundred time,

For instance, the very crime of which he had killed Vali even as a huntsman was repeated in the misdemeanour by Sugriva and Vibhishan too was guilty of the same offence, but Sri Rama took no cognizance of it even in a dream, Rama on the other hand, honored them both at his meeting and commented them in open Court,

The name repeated with good or evil intention, in an angry mood or even while yawning, diffuses joy in all the ten directions, remembering that Name and bowing my head to Lord, and proceed to recount the virtues of Rama, 

Rama is a noble Lord, and poor servant like me, yet, true to his own disposition, that storehouse of compassion has fostered me, in the world as well as in the Vedas we observe the following characteristic in a good master, that he recognize one's devotion to him as soon as he hears one's prayer, 

Rich or a poor, rustic or urban or unlettered of good repute or bad, a good poet or a bad one, all men and woman extol the king according to his or her light, 

The pious, sensible, amiable and supremely compassionate ruler, who takes his descent from a ray of God, greets all with sweet words hearing their compliments and appraising their composition, devotion, supplication and conduct, such is the way of earthly monarchs, to say nothing of Rama, who is crest jewel of wise men, Rama get pleased with unalloyed love, but duller and more impure of mind in this world than I,

Sri Somvati Amavasya today, a day to sanctify self in truth of available flux from the celestial bodied on this auspicious occasion of Conjunction of Sun and the Moon on the day of Moon,

A day for fair communication with supreme personality through respective discipline available to mark the self in truth with cult of the day,

Adoration of the day in cult with truth of spirit dissolves the unwanted knots to reach the destined destination designated for spirit in the Garb of Man,

The day is embodiment of eternity in itself to revamp the truth of inherent cult of self for fair compliance of journey in the planet, infinite are the aspects and infinite are the ways to enjoin this divine cult to make it for the cause eternal,

The name of Rama is bestower of one's desired object of this age, it is beneficent in the other world, and one's father and mother in this world, 

In Kaliyuga neither Karma that action, nor Bhakti that devotion, again not that Jnana that true knowledge avails, the name of Rama is the only resort,

The age of Kali is as it were the demon Kalanemi, the repository of all wiles, whereas the name is the wise and mighty Hanuman, 

To use another metaphor, the name of Rama is, as it were, the lord Manifested as a man lion That Narasimhan and the kali age, the demon Hiranyakasipu, Crushing this enemy of gods, the name will protect the devotees repeating it, even as the man-lion protected Prahalada,

The name of Rama is a wish yielding tree, the very home of beatitude in this age of Kali, by remembering which Tulsidasa, the saint poet, was transformed from an intoxicated drug like hemp plant to the holy basil,

Not only in this kali age but in all the four ages, at all times that past present and future and in all the three spheres that heaven, earth ad subterranean, creatures have been rid of grief by repeating the name,

The verdict of Vedas and Puranas as well as saints is just this, that love of Rama, or the name of Rama, is the reward of all virtuous acts,

In the first age, contemplation,,,, in the second age, sacrifice,,,, in the third that dwaper, lord is propitiated through worship,,,, this age of Kali, however, simply corrupt and the root of all impurities, where the mind wallows like fish in the ocean of sin, in this terrible age the name alone is a wish yielding tree, the very thought of which puts an end to all the illusions of the world,

By the grace of the name alone Lord Shiva is immortal and through endowed with auspicious paraphernalia such as a wealth of skulls, is yet a storehouse of blessings, 

By the grace of Name alone Siddhas that adepts, enjoy divine reptures, Narada realize this truth, that why, that Sri Hari is beloved of the world and Hara is dear to Hari, Narada is dear to both, 

Because of repeating the name, Lord shower his grace of Bhakta Prahlada, it is by remembering the holy name that Hanuman holds Rama under his thumb, 

The vile AJamila and even the celebrated elephant and harlot of the legend were liberated by the power of Sri Hari's Name, I have no word to depict the glory of the Name, not even Rama can adequately glorify it,

Sri Ekadasi today, a most meaningful day which could help eternal evolution at its best pitch and pace,

Indeed a cult which could help spirit suitable in fair expansion of self in truth with truth of self in finite body for infinite truth,

There are many cults and cultures to guide the spirit suitably in the journey of life but none equates with cult of Sri Ekadasi which pin point the target directly,

Sri Ekadasi is a comprehensive syllabus for self eternal to reach the peak of civilization eternally in truth with sole cause of being man,

As is well known to all that Sri Rama extended his protection to two devotees, Sugreeva and Vibhishan, his name on the other hand has showered its grace on numerous humble souls, 

This superb glory of the name shines forth in the world as well as in the Vedas, Rama collected an army of monkeys and bears and took no little pain over construction of a bridge to connect mainland with Island, through repetition of his name, the ocean of mundane existence itself gets dried up, 

Let the wise bear this in mind, Rama killed Ravana in battle with all his family and returned to his own city with Sita, then crowned king of Ayodhya, while gods and sages sung his glories in choicest phrases, his servants are however, able to conquer the formidable army of errors by fondly remembering His name, absorbed in devotion, move about in joy which is particularly their own, by the grace of Name they knew not sorrow even in dream, 

The Name is thus greater than Brahma and Rama both and confer blessings even on the bestowers of boons, knowing this in heart, the great Shiva chose this word Rama for himself out of sri Ram's story comprising of 100 crore verses,

Sri Rama himself redeemed woman Ahilya, the wife of an ascetic, while His Name corrected the error of crores of wicked souls, 

For the Sake of Sage Vishvamitra, Rama wrought the destruction of Suketu's daughter Tadaka with her army and son Subahu, while his name puts an end to the devotees vain hopes along with errors and sorrows even as the sun terminates night,

In his own person Rama broke the bow of Shiva, while the very glory of his name dispels the fear of rebirth, Rama restored the charm of Dandak Van alone, while his Name purifies the mind of countless devotees,

The delighter of Raghus crushed only a host of demons, while his name uproots all the impurities of the Kali age, Rama conferred immortaliy on faithful servant like Sabari, the Bheel woman, Jatayu, the vulture, while his name delivered innumerable wretches,  the tale of its virtues is well known in the Vedas,

Brahma is all truth, consciousness and a compact mass of joy, even though such immutable lord is present in every heart, all beings in this world are nonetheless miserable and unhappy, 

Through the practice of the Name preceded by its true appraisement, however, the same Brahma reveals itself even as the value of jewel is revealed by its correct knowledge, 

The Glory of the name is thus infinitely greater that the that of the Absolute, 

For the sake of devotees Rama assumed the form of a human being and, suffering calamities himself, brought relief to the pious, by fondly repeating his name, on the other hand, devotees easily become abodes of joy and blessings,

In this world there are four kinds of devotees of Sri Rama, all of them are virtuous, sinless and noble, all the four are clever as they are, rely upon the NAME, of these the enlightened devotees is specially dear to Rama, glory of name is supreme in all the four Yugas, and all the four Vedas, particularly in Kali age, there is no other mean of salvation, 

Even those who are free from all desires and absorbed in the joy of devotion to Rama, have known their heart as fish into the nectarine lake of supreme affection for the name,

There are two aspects of God, one is unqualified and other is qualified, both are unspeakable, unfathomable, without beginning and without parallel, TO MY MIND GREATER THAN BOTH IS THE NAME, that has established its rule over both by its might,

The two aspects of God should be recognized as akin to fire, the one that represent the fire which is latent in wood, while other that qualified divinity corresponds to that which is externally visible, though both are inaccessible by themselves, they are easily attainable through the Name, therefore I have called the Name is greater than Brahma and Sri Rama both,

Between the Unqualified Absolute and Qualified divinity, the name is a good intermediary, it is clever interpreter revealing the truth of Both,

Yogis and mystics who are full of dispassion and wholly detached from mundane that created by the God through his Maya, keeps awake in the daylight of wisdom, by muttering the Name with their inner truth including tongue and enjoy the felicity of Brahma that absolute, which is incomparable, unspeakable, unmixed with sorrow and devoid of name and form, 

Even those who, the seeker of truth,  aspire to know the mysterious ways of providence are able to comprehend them by muttering the name, strivers that hankering after worldly achievements, repeat the name,,,,absorbed in contemplation, and become accomplished, acquiring super human powers,,,,,, if devotees mutter the name, their worst calamities of the gravest type disappears and they become Happy,

The two letters forming part of the name of Rama crown of all letters, one spreading like an umbrella and the other as a crest jewel, the name and object name, though significance, are allied as master and servant one to other,

The Lord appears in person at the very mention of his name, name and form are two attributes of God, both of them are ineffable and beginningless and can be rightly understood only be means of good intelligence, 

It is presumptuous on one's part to declare as to which is superior or inferior, hearing the distinctive merit of both, pious soul will judge for themselves, forms are found to be subordinate of name, without the name you cannot come to the knowledge of a form, 

Typical forms cannot be identified even if they be in hand, without knowing their name, and if the name is remembered even without seeing the form, the letters flashes on the mind with a special liking for it, mystery of name and form is a tale which cannot be told, though delight to comprehend, it cannot be described in words,

Devotion to Rama is, as it were, the rainy season and the noble devotees, represents paddy crop, while the two charming syllables of the Name Rama, stand for the two months of Sravana and Bhadrapada correspond to july and August,

Both the latter sounds are sweet and attractive, they are two eyes, as it were, of the alphabet and the very life of the devotee, easy to remember and delightful to one and all, bring gain here and provide sustenance hereafter, 

They are most delightful to utter, hear and remember and are dear as Rama and Laxman to Tulsidasa, when treated separately, the two letters lose their harmony, differently pronounced, bear diverse meaning in the form of seed letters and as much yield different results, whereas they are naturally allied even as Brahma, the cosmic spirit, and Jiva that individual soul, good brothers like the divine sages Nara and Narayana, they are sustainer of the universe and redeemer of the devotees in particular, 

They are beautiful ornaments of the ears of the fair damsel in the form of Bhakti, and stand as the spotless sun and moon for the good of the world, like taste and the nectar, in the form of emancipation and supporter of the globe like the divine tortoise and the serpent god seas, they are like bees for the beautiful lotus in the shape of devotee's mind and are the very like Hari that Krishna and Haldhar that Balarama, for Yashoda,

Sita and Rama

 Jai Sri Ram,

I reverence the feet of Sita and Rama, who though state to be different are yet identical just like a word and its meaning or like water and the waves on its surface, and to whom the afflicted are most dear,

I greet the Name Rama, which is composed of seed letters, representing fire god, the sun god, the moon god, is the same Brahma Vishnu and Shiva, the vital breath of Vedas, attributeless, peerless and mine of virtues, 

Shiva mutter this name and which, when imparted by him at Kashi to departed soul, leads to emancipation, Its glory is well known in spheres of all regions, The saint poet Valmiki acquainted with the glory of the name, inasmuch as he attained to purity by repeating it even in reverse order, 

Shiva chant this name before dine which equates the thousand Names, and relate this mystic reality to goddess Gauri, Shiva knows the power of muttering the name, due to which deadly poison served the purpose of nectar to him,
